Job Description

Assist and support in the development and delivery of a safe, enjoyable day camp program for children and teens with developmental disabilities. Encourage and support integration in the community.
To plan and implement daily activities, trips and special events that are age appropriate. Activities involved are typical but not limited to crafts, songs, games, sports, water activities and trip outings. Ability to work outdoors while overseeing and participating in sporting events, including water activities.

To provide the necessary support, encouragement and positive influence to enable children and teens to participate and interact appropriately with others in a group situation.

To provide care, welfare, safety and security for those supported in the program.

Previous experience working with children and youth with developmental disabilities in a structured environment is an asset.

Good communication skills.

Common knowledge of computer and programs such as Word, Excel and internet proficiency.
Minimum of a High School Diploma, College/University student enrolled in a social service field such as the Developmental Service Worker program and the Social Service Worker program and returning to school in the Fall semester.

Current Criminal Record, including a Vulnerable Sector Check

Must be able to work throughout the entire summer period specified.

Current Standard First Aid/CPR Level “C”

Valid Driver’s Licence along with a current driver’s abstract

Water Safety and /or Life Guarding training and experience is an asset.

40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, typically 8:00 am – 4:00 pm

Position begins mid June and runs to late August.
