Key Responsibilities
The Quality Technician (QT) is responsible for the accurate communication of quality requirements for designated castings, and revisions to work instructions when requirements are updated.
The QT is the primary contact to the customer for all communications related to their designated castings. Access to all customer portals and DQR certification for all customers is required:
• Leads Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) activities related to customer escapes, and must authorize RTV activities
• Responsible for preparing and submitting First Article Inspection (FAI) packages to their designated customers. Monitoring and relaying the approval status will be required
• Preparing and submitting Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) packages for their designated castings. Monitoring and relaying the approval status will be required
• Approving all internal engineering changes for designated castings and communicates with the customer for authorization (when required)
• Participating in Purchase Order reviews for their designated castings, and Specification review as directed for specifications related to their designated castings
• Preparing and modifying shop floor techniques for their designated parts is the responsibility of the QT and the Product Technician (PT). The QT is responsible for inspection/processing techniques, whereas the PT is responsible for all “How-To”/foundry techniques
• Reviewing all changes/suggestions for improvement from their corresponding PT to ensure that no specification violation will occur and/or to determine if customer approval will be required, and seek the necessary approvals
• Keeping up to date a Master Status for all of their designated castings
• Completing all customer/part audits assigned to them, and seeing to the timely closure of associated Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
• Participating in daily and month end activities including product release and visual inspection
• Other duties as assigned by Management
Education Requirements:
Experience, Knowledge and Skills Required:
o Post-secondary education in a technical discipline
o 4 years of industry experience in Aerospace or Manufacturing is an asset
o Drawing interpretation including General Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
o Strong verbal communication skills and excellent customer service abilities
o Ability to manage priorities
o Certificated Quality Technician (ASQ) is an asset
Security Requirements:
• We conduct a criminal Record Check on all new hires
• We conduct a Government Controlled Goods Program (CGP) Check on all new hires; must be able to give 3 references to help verify your identity
Work Conditions:
• All staff must wear CSA approved footwear, hearing protection and safety glasses when entering the production floor
