| Job Description | In this role, the employee will be working under the general direction of the Shop Foreperson and/or Shipping & Receiving Lead in a large manufacturing facility.
To ensure success in this role, one must possess the ability to follow instructions and seek clarification if ever/ whenever needed.
The ideal candidate will have an eye for detail, will be able to work alongside other employees to problem solve and deliver exceptional results. Working with little supervision while following all health and safety standards is essential.
Regular, predictable, attendance per the schedule is an essential function of this role; must be punctual and trustworthy.
Responsibilities:
* clean and maintain a safe working area throughout the production floor, ensuring that Health and Safety processes and procedures are met;
* move waste from containers to appropriate dumpsters;
* read drawings / work orders to determine appropriate materials and tool requirements for production;
* assist in kitting rolled steel - as needed - for assembly processes;
* preparation of required other materials (fasteners, clips, etc.) for assembly processes;
* work in collaboration with - and under the direction of - Leads on the production floor to ensure all work stations have all required resources in order to effectively and efficiently complete the production of assemblies (materials, consumables, tools, batteries, etc.);
* assist in organizing and preparing finished product for shipping;
* may be asked to assist with framing, sheathing/ drywall installation, weather barrier installation - based on need and production deadlines;
* report issues - for quality control purposes - when handling any materials;
* operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs);
* other duties, as assigned, according to ability and company needs.
Skills and Qualifications:
* warehouse and/or manufacturing experience is an asset;
* framing experience (light gauge steel experience preferred, but not required) is an asset;
* Willingness to work a flexible schedule - as needed - for project completion;
* Ability to carry and lift up to 80 lbs.;
* Ability to stand for 8 hours or more a day;
* Safe operation of manual and power tools;
* Willingness to learn;
* Ability to be a team player;
* Possession of reliable transportation, or other reliable means to get to work.
