Job Description

Retail Associate – Prepared Meals :

Position Summary : 20 hours per week

We are seeking a reliable and customer-focused Retail Associate to join our specialty prepared meal store. This role combines excellent customer service with food packaging responsibilities, and maintaining high food safety & quality standards. The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and enjoys working in a fast-paced food retail environment.

Key Responsibilities

Customer Service

Welcome and assist customers in a friendly and professional manner.
Recommend products and answer questions about meal options, ingredients, and preparation.
Process purchases accurately using the point-of-sale (POS) system.
Handle customer inquiries and resolve concerns professionally.

Store Operations

Restock shelves, coolers, and displays throughout the day.
Rotate inventory using First In, First Out (FIFO) practices.
Receive and organize deliveries.
Maintain a clean, organized, and well-stocked retail environment.
Assist with opening and closing procedures.

Food Safety

Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene procedures.
Maintain clean workstations and equipment.
Ensure products are stored at proper temperatures.
Comply with all local health and safety regulations.
Package and label prepared meals and baked products.
Maintain consistent product presentation and quality standards.

Qualifications

Previous retail or food service experience is an asset.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
Comfortable standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 kg (55 lbs).
Availability to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.

Preferred Skills

Food Handler Certification (Preferred but Not mandatory).
Experience operating commercial kitchen equipment preferred but not mandatory
Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
Team-oriented with a positive attitude and strong work ethic.
