Full-time Driving Instructor

Position Description: The successful applicant will be teaching in-vehicle beginner driver education for youth and adults. Candidates should enjoy interacting with youth and understand that this “coming of age” process is likely to form one of their integral memories. Evening hours (2:30-9:30pm) required September through June; daytime or evening hours during the summer. Weekends are not required but employees can choose to work them.

Employment Arrangement: Full-time employee (not a subcontractor). $22/hr to start with room for advancement. Company vehicle for teaching.

Requirements: The successful applicant must complete a required MTO-approved Driving Instructor Course. The course is 4 weeks long, with the first 2 weeks on-line from your home and the second two weeks with an in-vehicle instructor in Ottawa. The course fee is approximately $2,800; following each year of full-time employment, the company will reimburse the employee $600 of the training costs until the full $2,800 is reimbursed at the end of 5 years. Prerequisites for such training courses include an Ontario G-licence, 21 years of age, a clean driving record with no demerit points, a clear vulnerable sector criminal record check, a high school diploma or equivalent (and other components required in the MTO Driving Instructor Kit).
