Job Summary
We are seeking a mechanically inclined, client-focused Stairlift Installation Technician to join our Ottawa team. In this role, you will travel directly to residential homes and commercial sites across the National Capital Region to assemble, install, maintain, and troubleshoot straight and curved stairlifts.
This position is ideal for individuals with a background in appliance repair, HVAC installation, finish carpentry, elevator maintenance, or automated mechanical fields.
Core Responsibilities
• Installation: Safely assemble, anchor, and secure customized stairlift tracking rails and motorized chairs onto wood, concrete, or carpeted stairs following blueprints and manufacturer specifications.
• Diagnostics & Field Service: Conduct routine maintenance, diagnose low-voltage electrical components, repair safety sensors, and perform structural integrity tests on existing equipment.
• Customer Care & Demonstration: Provide a patient, clear verbal walk-through and safety demonstration to clients (often seniors or individuals with limited mobility) once the lift is fully operational.
• Inventory Control: Cut aluminum track configurations carefully on-site and track custom stock components housed within the company service van.
Qualifications & Requirements
• Proven Technical Aptitude: Minimum 1–2 years of experience in a field installation, trade service, or residential handyman environment using diverse power tools.
• Clean Ontario Class G License: A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is mandatory for traveling to client sites daily.
• Physical Fitness: Ability to lift, lower, and maneuver heavy components weighing up to 75 lbs on stairs or confined layouts.
• Bilingualism (English/French): Highly preferred as an asset to comfortably service residential clients of the Ottawa valley.
