Job Description

Murray Family Farm Ltd. is a family owned and operated local farm focused on the production of local honey. We are looking for up to 3 labourers.

--- Role Summary ---
Assist with bee yard management, maintenance, and honey harvest. Most work is performed outdoors in all weather, including both inclement and uncomfortable weather. Candidates must be able to: work with honeybees, lift up to 50lbs. and work on their feet all day. Typical duties include moving honey boxes and hives in the bee yard, mowing grass, loading and unloading honey supers on trucks, and operating honey extracting equipment. Other duties include assisting with the packaging of honey, production of wooden bee equipment, painting, and cleaning.

--- Position Type and Term ---
Full time seasonal:
- 40+ hours per week, May – October;
- 40+ hours per week, May – end of August; and
- 40+ hours per week, end of June – end of August

Compensation: beginning at $16.55 per hour plus an allowance for safety boots prorated over the season.

Mandatory Education and Experience: None Required. Training will be provided.

Asset Experience and Qualifications: (not required for the job, but are valued if a candidate has any combination of them)
- Previous experience working with honeybees.
- Valid “G” licence.
- Experience operating a farm tractor with front end loader.

Secondary and Post-Secondary students are welcome.
