| Job Description | We're seeking to hire a respite worker to help care for our daughter, who has special needs (autism & hearing impairment). Ideally, we're looking for someone who can work Monday to Friday for 2 hours before school, and then 3-5 hours after school. Weekend shifts are also available, if you're interested. Job duties include supporting our daughter with meals, hygiene, bathing, dressing, and other daily living tasks; supporting her learning & development with a variety of games and activities; taking her on outings and supervising her when she plays outside; and generally being a caregiver, companion, and friend. Previous experience working with children with special needs would be a benefit, but not a requirement, as we are able to provide training. More importantly, we are looking for someone who is caring, kind, energetic, positive, reliable, and willing to learn. Our daughter has a lot of energy, so you must be able to keep up. We're hoping to find someone with a calm and peaceful personality, who can handle stress and adapt to challenging situations. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, able to obtain a vulnerable sector police record check, and have reliable transportation (job is in Arnprior). English does not need to be your first language. |
