#26.01 – CROSSING GUARD (2 positions)

The Town of Renfrew invites applications for the position of Crossing Guard. Under the supervision of the
Director of Fire, Emergency & Protective Services/Fire Chief, the Crossing Guard has an important role in
assisting pedestrians travelling to and from school when crossing at various intersections in the Town of
Renfrew. Crossing Guards are expected to work two hours per day for the duration of the school year. This
role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors and contributing to the community.
Qualifications:
Report to assigned crossing at appointed times and maintain a professional demeanor with the general
public and school children at all times.
Communicate clearly and effectively to crosswalk users regarding safe and unsafe crossing practices.
Ability to work independently and make sound judgments
Comfortable standing and working outdoors for extended periods
Always wear mandatory safety equipment while on duty as supplied by the Town of Renfrew.
Inspect crossing intersection daily, report and document all concerns and/or incidents.
Ability to obtain a clear Vulnerable Sector Check
