| Job Description | POSITION SUMMARY: Child and Family Access Workers are a part of multi-service team tasked with providing children who are no longer in their family’s care or who are not currently living with one parent, the opportunity to maintain their relationship with their parents and extended family. The incumbent will assist with completing a variety of visits for families in community settings, family homes and/or at the agency. The incumbent will work a flexible work schedule of no more than 17.5 hours per week, including day, evening and weekend hours. The work schedule will be designed to meet the needs of families, foster families and the children, as well as to support the goals for access. GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Adhere to all FCSRC policies and procedures, Ministry Regulations, Standards, Directives, and relevant legislation. • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information and conduct all duties within the boundaries of professional client relationships. • Understand the goals that are established with the family based on the Family Access Plan. • Assess, report, and update the status of the goals to the Child and Family Protection Worker, Children’s Services Worker and/or Child and Family Support Worker. • Provide guidance, support, and modeling for families in visit settings. • When required, provide continuous supervision to non-custodial/visiting persons with their children during child welfare access visits. • When required, provide assistance with exchanges between custodial and non-custodial persons, as well as in semi-supervised visits. • Ensure the health & safety of all parties involved and end a visit if there is a safety risk. • Complete all paperwork associated with the visits and client contact. • Maintain strict confidentiality of all client information and conduct all duties within the boundaries of professional client relationships. • Troubleshoot and address any issues as required. • Attend, as required, any supervisory or team meetings and all-staff meetings. • Maintain a broad knowledge of the resources available in Renfrew County. • Liaise with community professionals as required. • Provide feedback to protection and children and youth services workers. • Provide information to the Supervisor concerning client needs, requests or complaints. • Undertake other duties as required and assigned by the Supervisor. PERFORMANCE INDICATORS • Demonstrated use of Signs of Safety Model (principles, philosophy, tools) in case planning and recording. • Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy, goals and objectives of Supervised Access Services. KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS: • Minimum of 2 years of relevant post-secondary education. Ie. ECE, SSW, DSW, Child & Youth Worker Diploma, etc. • Valid driver’s licence, drivers abstract and liability insurance for transporting children and parents to and from access, as required. • Ability to mentor, supervise, instruct and negotiate with parents. • Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team, including community resource agencies. • Ability to navigate the agency documentation systems. • Ability to remain calm under pressure. • Above average verbal and written communication skills. • Above average organizational skills with an ability to multitask, prioritize and manage time effectively and efficiently. • Excellent public relations skills, self-discipline and good judgement. • Computer skills – knowledgeable about computer-based technologies relevant to report writing, the collection and maintenance of client information, data and other common office tasks. • Respect for confidentiality and professionalism with an ability to be objective regarding case material. • Knowledge of agency policies and procedures is considered an asset. • Ability to identify systemic barriers to equity and anti-oppressive practices and apply this lens to your work with FCSRC. • Knowledge, experience, and understanding of the culture, history and current oppressions experienced by marginalized groups. • Ability to understand and apply anti-colonial, anti-racist, anti-ableist, anti-cisgenderist, anti-ageist, anti-classist, anti-heterosexist lenses to social problems. • Ability to demonstrate critical thinking and implement evidence-based research into practice • Understanding of the CYFSA, Signs of Safety, Anti-Oppressive Practice and Strength-Based approach • Possess proficient communication skill, both written and spoken WORKING CONDITIONS • Normal office working condition apply • Ability to travel and work out of different offices and locations within Renfrew County • Driving as required Salary • Hourly rate of $23.52 |
