Job Posting: Support Staff
Intake Centre HART Hub (Warming Centre – Pembroke, ON)
MacKay Manor
Position Type: Casual - Part/Full-time hours
Location: Pembroke, Ontario
Shifts: 12-hour shifts (8:00am–8:00pm, 8:00pm–8:00am, 4:00pm-8:00pm)
Rate of Pay: $22.00/hour
These are contract positions until March 2028.

Key Responsibilities
• Supervise all clients accessing The Intake/warming centre.
• Ensure individuals follow established rules, guidelines, and safety expectations.
• Maintain the cleanliness and safety of the environment.
• Support a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment.
• Complete clear and accurate record-keeping, logs, and reports.
• Maintain appropriate professional boundaries and uphold confidentiality.
• Communicate effectively with staff, supervisors, and community partners.

Skills & Competencies
• Knowledge of substance use health, mental health and recovery principles.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain clear boundaries and ethical conduct.
• Reliable documentation and record-keeping abilities.
• Calm, professional, respectful approach in challenging situations.

Working Conditions
• Moderate physical activity (walking, stairs, standing, sitting, some lifting).
• Possible Exposure to infections, waste, illnesses, and potential contact with HIV/AIDS or hepatitis viruses.
• Overtime may be required.
• Must remain on-site for the full 12-hour shift.
Qualifications
• Understanding of substance use and recovery to support clients effectively.
• Strong integrity, honesty, and professionalism.
• Mature approach with excellent listening, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Certificate in Addiction & Community Service Worker or Diploma in Social Service Work (SSW), Peer Support, or equivalent education/experience.
• CPR/First Aid or willing to obtain
